Teacher Michael Short has been performing improv since 1999, having trained with the Second City, UCB, Magnet, and the Annoyance Theater. He’s played on stages across NYC, toured his solo improv show to theaters and festivals across the Unites States, and performed sketch and improv about the Norwegian Cruise Lines with the Second City. His goal is to create smart, well-rounded performers and help them to further deepen their craft and expand their palette.

Feedback from former students:

“My indie team requested Mike as a private teacher based on positive reviews from other improvisors and honestly, he didn't disappoint! His teaching methods allowed for my team to not only work on group goals but also individual hurdles that he so easily pinpointed and redirected. His supportive nature set the tone for our practice and encouraged us to feel safe in the space, which made the experience a lot less stressful! I would 100% recommend Mike for any improv training because frankly, he rocks!”
—Diana Avellino (PIT)

“Michael facilitated an environment where I learned many new improv techniques and felt encouraged to push myself to try out riskier tactics, both of which are extremely important to become a better improviser. This was due to Michael selecting effective exercises in addition to giving thoughtful feedback… In addition, I think that Michael helped us perform better as a team by giving us team-based feedback about our practice sessions in addition to individual feedback… Overall, I highly recommend Michael as a coach.”
—Sarah Nagy (Annoyance Theater)
